Painting is speaking without words. Drawing from visceral environments, dreamscapes and moments that search to recall as well as locate the imagined, my paintings are built on the relationship between seeing and feeling.
Working in oil on canvas, wood and paper, I am interested in the moment when mark making takes on meaning-when form and gesture become body. My "material" is organic. In these forms and shapes creatures emerge and possibilities present themselves as fauna and flora come to life. I anthropomorphize the "inanimate" in attempt to merge my relationship with the physical and psychological. I see the paintings as visual poetry. They make physical a longing to see with new eyes and create lightness.
