Welcome to the shed. This is my most recent body of work created over the summer months on Martha's Vineyard. "Shed Show" was established last year, based on a real garden shed in the backyard, when my artworks grew in numbers and our gatherings did the opposite. Each painting has an urgency to make, yet come from different places of inspiration. The inspiration may be a noun or verb, hands on activity or abstract, spiritual concept. Did I go looking for a painting or did I stumble upon a breathtaking light condition I was challenged to mimic and create? Things that capture the eye's attention: the orange flowers of butterfly weed, the sun breaking through morning fog, being at the right place at the right time, such as the sunset of Sengekontacket Pond driving from Oak Bluffs to Edgartown. Time gleaning at the Island Grown Initiative. The first beach day with friends on a rainy holiday weekend. Not shying away from painting one of the most painted subjects on the island, such as the Gay Head cliffs in the painting Aquinnah in June. Whether landmarks or hidden gems, all paintings share the desire to hold onto that which is precious and the present moment.

Thank you for attending #shedshow2021
